Bayern Munich striker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting is reportedly open to the idea of joining Manchester United this month.

The 34-year-old forward has been a surprise link to Old Trafford this January window as Erik Ten Hag once again looks to bring in an attacker in the winter market.

Last year saw Burnley striker Wout Weghorst brought in on loan, and 2024 could now see Choupo-Moting signed by United, with the forward’s contract with Bayern due to expire this summer.

And now, according to journalist Dean Jones via GiveMeSport, the Cameroonian international is warming towards returning to the Premier League this January with United.

Lauded by former teammate Nikolce Noveski as an ‘outstanding’ player, the veteran striker would certainly be an unusual signing for United this month.

However, given how desperately the Red Devils need a leading man upfront with Rasmus Hojlund still learning the ropes of the Premier League, Choupo-Moting could be a smart signing.

For some English football fans, Choupo-Moting is still seen as the forward who failed to do much as Stoke City, even with the striker going on to have quite the career since leaving the Potters.

The last six years have seen Choupo-Moting star in UEFA Champions League finals and win silverware with the likes of PSG and Bayern as a reliable goalscorer from the bench.

And for United, the former Schalke 04 man could be exactly what Ten Hag needs this January, with a short-term attacking fix needed at Old Trafford.

Indeed, Choupo-Moting won’t set Manchester on fire, yet the veteran forward could be ideal for United this month, and a deal now looks like it can be done.

I want to join now…Man Utd now ready to offer club Aaron Wan-Bissaka to help sign top target

Man Utd could now offer club Aaron Wan-Bissaka to help sign top target.

According to The Daily Star, Manchester United could look to enact a swap deal to sign Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise by offering £100,000 per week earner Aaron Wan-Bissaka in exchange.

The report claims that France Under-21 international Olise is viewed as one of Ratcliffe’s top targets once they are fully in position to step up their activity at Old Trafford in the summer.

The Red Devils extended Wan-Bissaka’s contract by 12 months due to a clause in his deal and are believed to have prolonged his stay in the North West to try and use him as leverage in this potential transfer saga.

On the flip side, Olise has a buyout stipulation which will kick into action later this year that is mooted to be around double the previous £35 million fee quoted before he extended his time at Selhurst Park, so United may need to also offer some cash along with the right-back.

Labelled “wonderful” by boss Roy Hodgson, the 22-year-old has recorded five goals and one assist in nine appearances despite battling with a hamstring issue for much of the campaign.

Whether sacrificing Wan-Bissaka would be a viable trade-off for Olise is a subjective matter; nevertheless, there is no doubt that the latter would offer a different dimension in the final third for Manchester United.

Manchester United appear to be keen to get deals over the line this window and are now reportedly willing to trigger the release clause of a key target at Old Trafford.

According to Catalan reports, Manchester United are keen on Valencia midfielder Javi Guerra and have already initiated first contacts regarding a move for the Spain Under-21 international this month.

The outlet claim that Guerra has a release clause worth in the region of €40 million (£34.4 million) that the Red Devils are willing to pay that sum to bring the playmaker to Old Trafford.

Viewed as someone who could be very important to the future of Ten Hag’s engine room, the Valencia-born man is seen as a value-for-money option and would be guaranteed a high salary in England should he move to Manchester United.

Labelled a “deep-lying orchestrator” by talent scout Jacek Kulig, Guerra has made 19 appearances in all competitions this term for Valencia, registering three goals and one assist (Guerra statistics – Transfermarkt).

Manchester United may need more variation on the field to try and reverse their inconsistent form and Guerra could add a different dimension to their engine room moving forward, both in the short and long term, making this a deal to watch.

Manchester United could make a move for long-term target Benjamin Sesko after his stance over a switch to Old Trafford has come to light

Manchester United long-term target Benjamin sesko will “turn a few heads around Old Trafford” if he becomes available in January.

Transfer analyst Dean Jones has speculated as to whether the RB Leipzig star may make a mid-season switch.

The Red Devils invested a significant amount of money on Rasmus Hojlund during the summer, spending £72 million to persuade Atalanta to approve the transfer.

However, manager Erik ten Hag will have another chance to expand his offensive options come January 1.

Having entered a new era, thanks to Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s £1.3billion deal to acquire a 25 per cent stake in the club being confirmed over the festive period, Manchester United will be seeking an upturn in fortunes during the second half of the campaign.

Sesko interested in January switch
Manchester United have been informed that Sesko is open to heading to the Premier League during the winter transfer window, according to 90min, but they are facing competition from domestic rivals after they have been put on red alert thanks to his stance.

The report suggests a loan with an obligation to buy has been mooted for the Slovenia international, who is seeking more regular game time after being limited to 698 minutes of action this season as he prepares for Euro 2024, but a lucrative offer would also be entertained by Leipzig amid additional interest from Arsenal, Chelsea and Newcastle United.

But there are fears that Manchester United and Sesko’s other admirers may be forced to be patient and wait until the summer before pouncing as doubts have emerged over whether it will be possible to reach an agreement with his current employers in such a short space of time.

The striker only linked up with Leipzig during the summer, having remained with Red Bull Salzburg on loan for the 2022/23 campaign after a £55million deal had been struck, and they are in a strong negotiating position ahead of suitors potentially heading to the negotiating table.

That is because Sesko’s contract – which allows him to pocket just shy of £58,000-per-week – still has more than four-and-a-half years to run, meaning Manchester United will have to meet the Bundesliga side’s demands if they want to get their man.

The Red Devils are long-term admirers of the ex-FC Liefering marksman and attempted to hijack his move to Leipzig last year, with football director John Murtough meeting his representatives to discuss a potential switch to Old Trafford, but his efforts were in vain.

Manchester United also monitored Sesko while he was on Slovenian outfit Domzale’s books in 2019, but they turned their attentions towards alternative options after deciding his £2.5million price tag was excessive.

In a potential boost for ten Hag, respected reporter Paul Brown recently said that the frontman is unlikely to rubber-stamp a January switch to the Red Devils’ Premier League rivals Arsenal as they have not made a concrete move for his signature.
