COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The PRCA is proud to announce the contract personnel selected for the Wrangler National Finals Breakaway Roping presented by Tito’s Handmade Vodka at the South Point Arena & Equestrian Center in Las Vegas, Dec. 3-4.
The selections are below:
· Chute Boss – John Gwatney
· Announcers – Bob Tallman and Steve Kenyon
· Secretary – Eva Chadwick
· Timers – Cindy Rosser and Cindy Gillespie
· Usher – Cory Kidd
· Music – Austin Lopeman
This is Gwatney’s fifth time as the chute boss and this is the first time Bob Tallman and Steve Kenyon will serve as announcers. Tallman is a ProRodeo Hall of Famer and Kenyon has announced at events such as the National Finals Steer Roping.
Chadwick is working the NFBR for the second time. Fellow ProRodeo Hall of Famer Rosser is a first-time timer at the NFBR and so is Gillespie.
This also is Lopeman’s first time as the music director at the NFBR.
This is the third year the Wrangler National Finals Breakaway Roping will take place at the South Point.
The Top 15 WPRA breakaway ropers will compete for prize money of $300,000 in 2024 an increase of $50,000 from a year ago, during the two-day, 10-round performance.

General admission tickets are $30 each day, with reserve admission tickets available for $45 per day. Tickets can be purchased online at southpointarena.com or ticketmaster.com, by phone at 866-796-7111 or at the South Point Hotel, Casino & Spa box office. Tickets are electronic unless purchased at the box office or specified otherwise online or over the phone.
The 2024 event will begin daily at 2 p.m. (PST) with doors opening at 1 p.m. daily. Parking at the South Point Hotel and Casino is FREE.
The 2020 National Finals Breakaway Roping took place at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, in conjunction with the NFR and Jackie Crawford captured the world championship. In 2021, the NFBR took place in Las Vegas at the Orleans Hotel and Casino and was won by Sawyer Gilbert.
In 2022, Martha Angelone won the NFBR with $130,304. She earned $21,207 at the NFBR to cap her magical season.
Then, in 2023 Shelby Boisjoli-Meged placed in six rounds, including a share of two wins, and earned a NFBR-record $33,157 over the two days. She finished the 2023 season with $197,706 another earnings mark.
