Manchester City are back to winning ways in the Premier League after beating Fulham – and Pep Guardiola has now spoken about his post-game chat with Adama Traore.

Manchester City beat Fulham 3-2 at the Etihad Stadium in what could turn out to be a fairly significant result.

City were given a scare by the Cottagers, who took the lead in the first-half.

Andreas Pereira put Fulham 1-0, and Marco Silva’s side might have gone further ahead had Adama Traore been more clinical.

The Spaniard spurned a number of great opportunities, with Ederson thankfully on top form. Former City defender Andy Morrison insisted that the Brazilian was the Man of the Match.

Mateo Kovacic struck twice and Jeremy Doku made sure of the points in the second-half.

But it could have been a very different scoreline had Traore been on top form, and Pep Guardiola has now shared what he said to the player after he was spotted deep in conversation with him.

City got a little lucky against Fulham.

Pep’s side remain unbeaten this season, but still haven’t really hit top gear yet, with Rodri and Kevin De Bruyne’s absences being felt.

On another day, Fulham would have handed City their first defeat of the season on Saturday.

But it wasn’t to be for them, and Traore’s wastefulness was a big reason why they ended up losing.

After the game, Pep was spotted having a lengthy chat with the winger and details of the conversation have now come to light.

Pep joked: “Yeah, I said, ‘Well done (for missing those chances)!’ Listen, I’ve known him since he played at Barcelona when he was in the Academy, and after he went to Middlesbrough, and after he went to Wolves with Nuno (Espirito Santo), and after he went to Barcelona, and after he came back here.”

There was a moment in the second-half when Traore absolutely blitzed past Kyle Walker, widely regarded as one of the fastest players in the Premier League.

The speed was incredible from Traore, whose threat is not lost on Pep.

Speaking at his press conference, the City boss added: “He’s an incredible threat this guy! This guy, when he takes the ball, forget about it! Look at the run with our fastest player, Kyle (Walker), he beat him. So he’s unstoppable when it’s a big space, he’s so difficult to control.”

Adama Traore would be amazing under Pep

Thankfully, Traore was missing his shooting boots on Saturday at the Etihad, after having previous against City.

It was interesting to see Pep speaking to the player at full-time and it looked as though he might have been offering him some pearls of wisdom, as we have seen before when he spoke with Nathan Redmond.

There has been criticism levelled at Traore in his career for lacking an end product.

Guardiola will probably never work with Traore, but it’s hard to imagine – given his track record – that he wouldn’t make Traore a much better player.
