Liverpool were at it right from the get go against Chelsea this evening.Perhaps still feeling galvanised by Jurgen Klopp’s recent bombshell, the Reds flew out of the traps at Anfield. After battering the Chelsea defence for the opening exchanges, a goal felt inevitable. It did eventually come through Diogo Jota.

And according to Rio Ferdinand, the fast start from Liverpool had been coming right from the pre-game warm-up.

“I watched the warm up and I said to Robbie [Fowler] and Joe [Cole], Liverpool look aggressive, look at it,” Ferdinand raved to TNT Sports at half-time.

“Chelsea looked a bit more relaxed, calm, and this game has been amped up, 100 mile an hour football from Liverpool”

Ferdinand hails Liverpool preparation

Funnily, this isn’t the first time Ferdinand has commented on Liverpool’s pre-match routine.

Back in December, the Manchester United legend also made an observation about what he’d seen ahead of the Reds’ match against Crystal Palace.

That day, Ferdinand was amazed by the quality he’d seen from Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Today, there was no Trent to catch the pundit’s eye. But he may have been impressed by what he saw from Trent’s stand in, Conor Bradley.

Judging from what he did while he was on the pitch, Bradley must have played the warm-up like a man possessed.

The 20-year-old was absolutely unbelievable for Liverpool this evening. With a goal and two assists, tonight felt like the birth of a star at Anfield.

To come in and slot into a team of players as experienced as the Reds takes some doing. To do it and stand out as Bradley is doing is quite simply jaw-dropping.

The Northern Irishman’s relentlessness typified the whole Liverpool performance tonight. Ferdinand is right, they were just at it, and they didn’t stop.

With time running out on Klopp’s tenure at the club, it feels like there’s real momentum with the Reds now. Bring this energy every game and we’re in for one heck of an end to the season.
