Manchester United have made significant progress in signing Lille star Leny Yoro, who has changed his mind about joining Old Trafford after discussions with his family and boss Erik ten Hag, according to GIVEMESPORT sources.

Following the £36.5 million acquisition of Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna, the Red Devils are now focusing on bolstering their defense. Dan Ashworth, United’s new sporting director, is close to finalizing Yoro’s arrival, marking the second signing of the summer transfer window.

Yoro initially preferred a move to Real Madrid but has decided to join Manchester United after conversations with his family and ten Hag about his role at the club. The 18-year-old, who has made 60 appearances for Lille, is set to transfer for an initial £42 million, potentially rising to £50 million with add-ons. This move aims to replace Raphael Varane, who has left the club.

Yoro is expected to fly to the UK for medical tests, but United must act quickly to secure his services as Real Madrid could still intervene. The La Liga champions had planned to wait until the end of the transfer window to make a low offer, knowing Yoro’s initial preference for the Bernabeu. However, Lille pressured Yoro to join United, and he could join their pre-season tour in the United States, starting with a match against Arsenal in Los Angeles on July 27.

GMS sources revealed that Yoro wanted to settle his future quickly to integrate with his new teammates. United’s swift action and clear proposal have positioned them favorably to sign their leading center-back target, complicating matters for other interested clubs and ensuring Lille could negotiate a lucrative fee despite Yoro being in the final year of his contract.
