Three Players Who Could Break Into the Warriors’ Starting Lineup This Season

With Klay Thompson now with the Dallas Mavericks and a restructured roster, the Golden State Warriors face an opportunity for new faces to step into significant roles. As the team adjusts, three players might emerge as starters by the end of the season.

  1. Jonathan Kuminga
Kuminga’s potential makes him the most likely candidate to break into the starting lineup. After a promising finish last season, where he averaged 16.1 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game, Kuminga is expected to take on a larger role. If he can enhance his defensive skills, contribute more on the boards, and consistently hit his three-pointers, he could surpass Andrew Wiggins and become a key starter. His development is crucial for the Warriors to remain competitive in the West.
  2. Trayce Jackson-Davis
Jackson-Davis has shown strong potential as a rookie, with impressive per-36-minute stats: 17.2 points, 10.9 rebounds, and 2.4 blocks. His physicality and rebounding prowess make him a strong candidate for the starting center position. Though he may share minutes with Draymond Green and Kevon Looney, starting Jackson-Davis could benefit the team both in terms of development and immediate impact, especially if he can capitalize on the space created by Stephen Curry’s gravity.
  3. Buddy Hield
Although Hield might start the season coming off the bench, his elite shooting and offensive versatility make him a potential starter. With his ability to play as a three-guard alongside Curry and second-year guard Brandin Podziemski, Hield could help offset any deficiencies in the backcourt. If Andrew Wiggins continues to struggle, a three-guard lineup featuring Hield could become a regular fixture, providing a potent offensive option for the Warriors.

These players represent the Warriors’ best hopes for optimizing their lineup and maintaining competitiveness this season.
