A Liverpool defender tests positive for COVID-19, adding to his frustration
Liverpool loanee Calvin Ramsay has tested positive for Covid-19 which will keep the 20-year-old out of action for Preston North End.
The Anfield giants have continued their process of loaning young players out for their development even this season. Already many of the loanees are doing wonders in their respective seasonal clubs.
However, one of the Reds loanee, Calvin Ramsay, did not have a great last few months. The Reds bought him from Aberdeen in the summer of 2022. The right-back then joined Preston North End this summer on a season-long loan deal.
He debuted for the Championship side last month after having suffered a long-term knee injury. But concerns grew again as he did not travel with the team for the game against Norwich City on Sunday.
Calvin Ramsay tests positive for Covid-19
While speaking in the post-match conference, the Preston manager Ryan Lowe confirmed about the youngster’s situation.
“He’s got Covid. I don’t know what the crack is. There’s a bit of it flying around isn’t there? He wasn’t feeling well and we had to make sure we just kept him away. There was no point him travelling with us. So yeah, he’s not well.”
Lowe stated.
The Scottish defender was out since this February as he went through a knee surgery. He eventually recovered from it and came back in action last month, making his first appearance for the Lillywhites.
Ramsay so far had made only 2 appearances for Preston, accumulating only 132 minutes (stats via Transfermarkt).
The 20-year-old testing positive for Covid-19 means he will delay the already delayed process of getting back to full match fitness.
This is really the worst time to catch Covid with the festive season approaching nearer. The highly optimistic prediction will be that the young Scott recovers in time to face Huddersfield Town on Tuesday.
An ardent football fan and a proud Red. I take immense pleasure in analyzing the intricacies of the game.
