Pep Guardiola acknowledges that his team’s recent Premier League losses are concerning due to the late goals they have given up.

Three straight league games against Chelsea, Liverpool, and Spurs have resulted in goals in added time, 80 minutes, and 90 minutes, respectively, putting the Blues behind.

Every time City nearly scored just before giving up, the manager is confident that the caliber of the opponents his team has played against is capable of punishing such carelessness, and it did on those occasions.

It’s accurate, Guardiola affirmed. We almost scored more goals in the last games against Chelsea and Liverpool, but when it’s open in the final minutes, anything can happen.

“We didn’t defend the cross well against Spurs, and we didn’t defend the far post well either, but Kulusevski attacked well and scored a nice goal with his shoulder.

“You have to accept that football is like that—it happens sometimes at certain moments. It is up to you to try to break it and win games.

We want to score goals sometimes, but we can’t always accomplish it because we’re exhausted.

“We play against elite teams that can succeed.” As the players are aware, we will work to get better.

The manager adds that it’s too soon to project where our upcoming opponents, Aston Villa, will place in the standings this year.

This season, Unai Emery’s team has won all six of their home games in the league. If they win all three points on Wednesday night, they will pass City in the standings.

Guardiola acknowledges that it can be challenging to sustain the intensity of a title challenge and European football, but he thinks the Midlands club has a manager who understands how to handle the workload in Emery.

“Based on their performance thus far, they are capable of challenging because they are competing in Europe, playing well, and being present,” he remarked.

There are still 72 points to be earned after 15 games have been played, but if they are there thus far, they will undoubtedly be there in the end.

“I believe Emery is accustomed to playing every three days in the European knockout stages, having done so at Sevilla, PSG, and Arsenal.”

“He understands how to manage the players’ mindset and training because they play every three days.
