Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Mason Greenwood is set to join Marseille, with a deal already in place. Reports on Tuesday indicated that Manchester United and Marseille have agreed on a fee for the forward, and Romano now confirms Greenwood will travel to France for a medical.
“Mason Greenwood to Olympique Marseille, here we go! Deal in place between all parties,” Romano announced on X. “OM have booked a private flight for Mason to land in Marseille, undergo medical tests, and sign. The deal is valid until June 2029. Manchester United will receive a €30m package plus a 50% sell-on clause.”
Manchester United aimed to secure a permanent exit for Greenwood this summer, especially with his contract expiring next year. The 22-year-old met with United officials at Carrington last week to discuss his situation as the club sought a transfer. Marseille emerged as the frontrunner after fending off interest from Juventus, Lazio, and Napoli.
Greenwood, an academy product, last played for United in January 2022 but impressed on loan at Getafe last season, scoring 10 goals in 36 appearances. His departure will provide funds for United to strengthen their squad, with finances tight at Old Trafford.
United have already announced the signing of Joshua Zirkzee, and Leny Yoro is set to travel to Manchester for a medical ahead of a potential transfer. Assuming Greenwood completes his move to Marseille, he will be the fourth player to leave for a fee this summer, following Alvaro Fernandez, Donny van de Beek, and Willy Kambwala.
