“He’s dealing with a problem” – Erik ten Hag confirms Manchester United player will be absent for Brighton game
Victor Lindelof to Miss Brighton Clash Due to Toe Injury
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has confirmed that centre-back Victor Lindelof will miss the team’s upcoming match against Brighton due to an injury. Speaking to the official Manchester United website, ten Hag revealed, “There is no confusion, he has an issue on his toe. So hopefully he can return quickly, but he is not available for the weekend.”
Lindelof’s absence is a blow for United, who have already been grappling with several injury concerns. The Red Devils have seen key players like Luke Shaw, Leny Yoro, and Rasmus Hojlund sidelined, while left-back Tyrell Malacia faces long-term fitness issues. Lisandro Martinez and Mason Mount also struggled with injuries last season, adding to the club’s ongoing fitness woes.
Despite Lindelof’s unavailability, ten Hag can rely on other options in the centre-back position. The squad boasts increased depth this season with Harry Maguire, Martinez, and new signing Matthijs de Ligt available to fill in. The Red Devils’ revamped roster, bolstered by summer signings, aims to offer more resilience and quality compared to last season.
Manchester United will look to build on their strong start to the Premier League, following a narrow victory over Fulham in their opening match. Joshua Zirkzee, who scored the decisive goal against Fulham, is expected to make his first start for United as they face a confident Brighton side. Brighton’s impressive 3-0 win over Everton in their opener underscores the challenge ahead for ten Hag’s team as they seek to maintain their perfect start to the season.
