Jack Grealish Injury Setback Frustrates Pep Guardiola Ahead of Premier League Opener
Jack Grealish has suffered an injury setback, missing Manchester City’s match against Manchester United. Pep Guardiola expressed his disappointment, particularly since the injury occurred so close to the start of the Premier League season.
Grealish, 28, had been a key figure in City’s pre-season after missing out on the European Championship with England. He was determined to prove his worth this season. However, some discomfort during training just before the Community Shield led the medical team to advise against his participation at Wembley.
There’s a chance Grealish may also miss City’s Premier League opener against Chelsea, but avoiding the United game likely prevented a more serious injury. Guardiola commented, “It’s not a big issue, but he didn’t feel good the last two days. We didn’t want to take any risks.”
Guardiola acknowledged the setback, noting Grealish’s strong pre-season performances and the momentum he had built. Despite the frustration, the manager understands that injuries are a part of the game and must be managed throughout the season.
