Speaking about substituting Mohamed Salah, Jurgen Klopp discusses Liverpool’s transfer problems in January.

In the new year, Jurgen Klopp might have to manage without Mohamed Salah for as long as one month.

Following a game-winning goal for Liverpool, Klopp praises Salah.

Jurgen Klopp has admitted that he has ‘no real plans’ to replace Mohamed Salah when the Liverpool maestro departs for the Africa Cup of Nations next month. While on international duty, Salah may miss up to seven Reds games. The 31-year-old is hoping to help Egypt win an eighth continental championship.

Having to play without Salah for a month during the most recent Africa Cup of Nations, Liverpool ultimately lost the Premier League title match to champions Manchester City. But this time, Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo’s increased firepower will more than make up for his absence, along with that of Luis Diaz and the injured Diogo Jota.

Before Liverpool’s victory over Crystal Palace, Klopp disclosed that there are no intentions to bring in a forward in January to take Salah’s place. He said, “No, I didn’t think about it to be honest and I can’t change it anyway.” Really, I have no plans for it. January, is that right? When is Diogo coming back?

“I hadn’t given it any thought yet. Most likely, on January 7, Salah will be available to play against Arsenal in the FA Cup. I’m not sure when the boys’ official date is. December is a very challenging month. After you get through it, you’re relieved, and then you begin to consider everything else.

Without Salah at their side, Klopp will be counting on his other forwards to step up if they want to keep up their Premier League title challenge into the new year. If Egypt makes it to the final, as they did the previous time around when they were defeated by Senegal on penalties, he will miss several crucial games.

Following their FA Cup match against Arsenal, Liverpool will travel to Bournemouth before playing Chelsea, the Gunners in the league, and Burnley. Even in the event that Jota is unable to recover in time, they should be able to handle Salah’s absence thanks to their formidable attacking depth.
