Man City agrees to Kalvin Phillips transfer, with interest from three Premier League clubs
Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips may remain in the Premier League this season, as three clubs show interest
Ipswich, Everton, and Fulham are all eyeing the 28-year-old midfielder as they finalize their squads for the season. Manchester City initially sought a permanent sale for Phillips, who isn’t part of Pep Guardiola’s plans. However, they are now open to another loan move following his previous stint at West Ham.
Phillips is eager for a fresh start after a challenging two years since his £45m transfer to City. The former Leeds player struggled to settle at the Etihad and faced public criticism from Guardiola for returning to training overweight after the 2022 World Cup. Despite rejecting other offers at the start of last season to prove himself, Phillips couldn’t secure a regular spot in the team and was loaned to West Ham in January, where his spell was less than ideal. Still, he was recognized by Gareth Southgate as a key part of the England squad during the European Championship this summer and has shown promise in pre-season as a centre-back for City. Everton has shown consistent interest, while Fulham and Ipswich are also considering him. If none of the clubs finalize a permanent deal this summer, a loan agreement with City remains a possibility.
