Man City Hijack Michael Olise Transfer in Last-Minute Move as Medical Begins

Man City made a late move to hijack Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise deal, sources have told Football Insider.

Crystal Palace sensation Michael Olise is undergoing a medical at Bayern Munich after the Bundesliga giants agreed to a £50.7 million deal, including add-ons, to bring him to the Allianz Arena.

Manchester City, among other Premier League giants, expressed late interest and contacted Olise’s camp in an attempt to sway his decision. However, the Premier League champions’ efforts failed, and the 22-year-old is finalizing his move to join Harry Kane and Eric Dier in Germany.

Sources from Football Insider reveal that Pep Guardiola is in search of a “world-class” wide forward to be an immediate starter for City. Despite their profile requirements, finding a player of the desired quality has proven challenging for the four-time consecutive Premier League champions.

Riyad Mahrez left for the Saudi Pro League last summer, and Kevin De Bruyne has indicated his openness to new opportunities, while currently leading Belgium at Euro 2024. De Bruyne is accompanied in the Belgian squad by Man City forward Jeremy Doku, who is expected to be integral to Guardiola’s plans next season. Olise, with his distinct attributes, would have brought a different dynamic to the team.

Olise’s release clause for Champions League clubs was valued at £60 million, but Bayern managed to secure the deal for almost £10 million less, despite City’s late efforts to hijack the transfer.
