Manchester City are eyeing a player with a £51m release clause who has made an impact at Euro 2024.

Despite securing four consecutive Premier League titles—a historic achievement—Manchester City are eager to bolster their already impressive squad with additional talent.

Their determination to keep winning could lead them to trigger the release clause of a long-time target, who is reportedly admired by Pep Guardiola.

According to Football Insider, Manchester City are intensifying their efforts to sign RB Leipzig forward Dani Olmo, who could bring renewed energy to Guardiola’s team.

The report indicates that Manchester City are prepared to meet the £51m release clause in Olmo’s contract, which has three years remaining. While other European clubs are also interested in the Spaniard, it appears the Premier League champions are in the strongest position to secure his signature.

Although Olmo has only started one of Spain’s three matches at Euro 2024, he provided an assist for former Manchester City winger Ferran Torres against Albania and came off the bench in their 3-0 victory over Croatia.

Olmo may have more chances to shine in the remainder of the tournament. Spain have already advanced to the knockout stages of Euro 2024, where they will face a third-placed team from either Group A, D, E, or F in the round of 16.

A product of Barcelona’s renowned La Masia academy, Olmo would fit seamlessly into Manchester City’s style of play while adding a directness that could aid the transition of their midfield as Kevin De Bruyne begins to age.
