Manchester City have reportedly ended their pursuit of Real Madrid’s 23-year-old attacker Rodrygo Goes, according to Defensa Central. The Brazilian forward, recognized as one of the top young talents in football, has been instrumental for Real Madrid since his transfer from Santos.

Manchester City, who recently parted ways with Julian Alvarez, were linked with Rodrygo as a potential replacement. His versatility as both a winger and a center-forward made him a desirable target for the Premier League champions. However, Rodrygo remains a crucial player for Real Madrid, who are unwilling to let him go. The club doesn’t need to sell key players, and Rodrygo, who regularly features in their lineup, is unlikely to push for an exit.

Rodrygo’s importance to Real Madrid is evident in his contribution last season, where he scored 17 goals and provided nine assists in 51 appearances. His development at the Spanish club has been consistent, and he has played a vital role in helping them secure major trophies.

Given Real Madrid’s stance and Rodrygo’s contentment at the club, Manchester City’s interest in him was always a long shot. As the new season approaches, City will need to explore other options to bolster their attack, as relying solely on Erling Haaland is not a viable strategy.
