Manchester United anticipate that star midfielder will depart before the transfer deadline.
Manchester United are preparing for further changes as the summer transfer window nears its end. The club has been very active this offseason, bolstering their squad with new signings including Leny Yoro, Joshua Zirkzee, Matthijs de Ligt, and Noussair Mazraoui. However, they have also seen several key players depart, such as Mason Greenwood, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Donny van de Beek, and Willy Kambwala.
As the transfer deadline approaches, United are expected to see more movement, with Scott McTominay emerging as a likely candidate to leave. According to The Sun, the club anticipates McTominay’s departure before the end of August. The 27-year-old midfielder has attracted interest from three Premier League clubs, each keen to secure his services.
Fulham has made two unsuccessful bids for McTominay but remains in negotiations with Manchester United. The Cottagers are reportedly prepared to offer him a five-year contract at Craven Cottage. Meanwhile, Crystal Palace is also interested, having accumulated funds from recent player sales. Brighton & Hove Albion has expressed admiration for McTominay and might act before the transfer window closes on August 30.
Interest in McTominay extends beyond England, with Napoli’s Antonio Conte reportedly prioritizing him for his squad. However, United rejected a loan offer from the Italian club.
Despite a strong 2023-24 season in which McTominay contributed 13 goals in 43 appearances, he has just one year remaining on his contract. United are inclined to sell him this summer to capitalize on his value.
