Manchester United Offer £98,000 a Week to Sander Berge Amidst Transfer Pursuit

Manchester United are stepping up their efforts to strengthen their midfield with a potential move for Burnley’s Sander Berge. The Red Devils, who have already bolstered their defense with three new signings and added young Dutch striker Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna, are now focusing on midfield reinforcements before the transfer window closes in two weeks.

According to TDF, Manchester United have presented contract terms to Berge that would see the 26-year-old Norwegian international earn approximately £98,000 per week, translating to around €6 million annually. This move highlights United’s intent to secure the player’s services as part of their summer overhaul.

Burnley, however, are yet to agree on a transfer fee for Berge, who is valued at £29.8 million (€35 million) according to The Irish Daily Star. The midfielder’s availability is currently uncertain due to a quad injury that has sidelined him from Burnley’s recent friendly against Luton and will keep him out of their Premier League opener against Cardiff.

Berge’s versatility allows him to play both defensive and central midfield roles, a quality that could be crucial for United as they seek to enhance their midfield options. Last season, he featured in every Premier League match except one, showcasing his reliability and fitness.

As negotiations continue, Manchester United’s offer underscores their commitment to strengthening their squad with quality players. The question remains whether the Clarets will agree to the proposed fee and if Berge will make the move to Old Trafford in the final stretch of the transfer window.
