- Liverpool one step away from signing ‘incredible’ player, he’s going to cost them £43m
Liverpool one step away from signing ‘incredible’ player, he’s going to cost them £43m
Liverpool are getting closer and closer to agreeing a deal with Southampton for midfielder Romeo Lavia.
The Reds have seemingly been locked in negotiations with the Championship club over Lavia for the past few weeks. Having seen an initial bid rejected, Liverpool look set to come back with an improved offer.
And according to French outlet Foot Mercato, that new, higher offer is set to be accepted by Southampton.
They claim that an agreement is now ‘one step away,’ with Lavia likely to cost Liverpool £43m.
The deal is reportedly in the process of being finalised, with the final figure between the two clubs said to be the only thing now missing.
With that seemingly expected to come very soon though, the deal is claimed to be in the ‘final phase.’
All being well, it appears that Liverpool are in the last throes of getting this done. Phew!
Liverpool looking to finalise Lavia capture
The deal to get Lavia to Anfield has seemingly been dependent on Liverpool finalising the departures of both Fabinho and Jordan Henderson.
As both of those sales dragged on, the Reds dealings with Southampton have perhaps been put on ice just a little.
But with Fabinho and Henderson now officially no longer Liverpool players, things now need to speed up.
As things stand, Liverpool currently have just six senior first team midfielders. Two of those are aged 20 or under, while only one is older than 24.
Clearly, Lavia doesn’t remedy that issue. Being only 19, he isn’t exactly an experienced head to take over from Fabinho and Henderson.
What he is though, is an exceptionally talented young player. Pep Guardiola called the Belgian ‘incredible’ last season [mancity.com], and while Liverpool may not have been expecting to bring him in as an immediate starter this summer, that’s where they currently are.
It would still be preferable to bring Lavia in alongside a more experienced additional midfielder. But for now, beggars can’t be choosers. Let’s get this done as quickly as we can and then assess if anything further can be sorted out.
Mane to return to Liverpool?
German outlet BILD (via the Liverpool Echo) are reporting that Bayern Munich chiefs are planning a ‘drastic shake-up’ after almost losing out on the title to Borussia Dortmund.
Club chariman Herbert Hainer axed CEO Oliver Kahn and sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic immediately after the title had been won in a ruthless cull which could extend to Mane.
Sadio Mane could be in line for a shock return to Liverpool this summer, according to reports in Germany.
Mane 31, chose to leave Liverpool last summer to join Bayern Munich in a deal worth up to £35m.
His departure came just weeks after Liverpool’s defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League final and was viewed at the time as a major loss, with the Senegal international later going on to finish second in the 2022 Ballon d’Or standings behind Lionel Messi.
Tasked with filling the void left by Robert Lewandowski, Mane has managed only seven Bundesliga goals in his debut season in German football.
He made a bright start at Bayern but was then sidelined for several months with a leg injury in November, which forced the Senegal international out of the World Cup in Qatar.
After making his return in February, Mane had a burst up with Sane after Bayern’s Champions League defeat to Manchester City in April.
He was subsequently suspended by his club and, after returning to the fold, was forced to play a bit-part role in the remainder of the season as Bayern claimed the Bundesliga title in dramatic circumstances on the final day of the season.
Meanwhile, ex-Man City winger Sane and former Arsenal star Serge Gnabry have also been named as players who could leave Bayern this summer.
While Mane is rightfully viewed as a legend at Liverpool, having scored 120 goals in 269 appearances for the club, it is unclear if the Merseysiders will make a move for the Senegalese forward this summer.
Jurgen Klopp already has a number of world-class attacking options in his squad – Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota and Cody Gakpo.
Liverpool’s main focus on the transfer market is in the midfield department, with the club close to completing a deal for Brighton star Alexis Mac Allister.
Avram Glazer has infuriated Manchester United fans after being pictured alongside a Liverpool supporter, committing one of football’s biggest sins.
The United owner was pictured outside of the White House in Washington D.C. alongside an unidentified man wearing a Liverpool shirt with both smiling and the fan pointing to the Liverpool badge.
With United sharing a fierce rivalry with the Reds that stretches back decades, Glazer certainly hasn’t done himself any favours with the United owner already under major scrutiny.
The picture has caused outrage among United supporters on social media with one tweeting: “GET HIM OUT IMMEDIATELY.”

In his time at the club, he has overseen a significant transformation of the team’s fortunes, leading them to become one of the most dominant forces in English and European football. Klopp’s vision for Liverpool is rooted in his deep appreciation for the club’s history, his passion for the game, and his unwavering commitment to his players.
One of Klopp’s primary goals for Liverpool is to restore the club to its former glory. Liverpool has a rich history, dating back to the early 20th century when it was a dominant force in English football. The club has won 19 league titles, 7 FA Cups, and 8 League Cups, as well as numerous European trophies, including 6 European Cups. However, in the years leading up to Klopp’s arrival, the club had fallen on hard times, and its success had waned.
Klopp’s approach to restoring Liverpool’s glory has been to create a team that is both successful on the field and beloved by its fans. He has instilled a strong team ethos, emphasizing the importance of hard work, dedication, and a never-say-die attitude. Klopp has also been a master of motivating his players, inspiring them to give their all in every game and to never give up, even in the face of adversity.
Another key element of Klopp’s vision for Liverpool is to play an exciting, attacking brand of football. He believes that football is a form of entertainment, and that the best way to win over fans is to play attractive, attacking football that is pleasing to the eye. Under Klopp’s guidance, Liverpool has become known for its high pressing, fast-paced style of play, which has led to some thrilling matches and memorable moments.
In addition to his focus on the team’s success on the field, Klopp has also been committed to building a strong, positive culture at the club. He has placed a strong emphasis on team unity, creating a sense of camaraderie among his players and staff that extends beyond the confines of the playing field. Klopp has also been a strong advocate for social justice issues, using his platform to speak out on issues such as racism and inequality.
Finally, Klopp’s dream for Liverpool is to establish the club as a dominant force in European football. He has a deep appreciation for the history and tradition of the European game, and he has made it clear that he wants Liverpool to be among the elite clubs on the continent. In 2019, Klopp achieved this dream when he led Liverpool to their sixth European Cup triumph, cementing the club’s place among the greats of European football.
In conclusion, Juergen Klopp’s vision for Liverpool is rooted in a deep appreciation for the club’s history, a passion for the game, and a commitment to his players and fans. His focus on restoring Liverpool to its former glory, playing an exciting brand of football, building a positive culture, and establishing the club as a dominant force in European football has led to a remarkable transformation of the club’s fortunes. Klopp’s dream for Liverpool is one that is shared by millions of fans around the world, and it is one that he is working tirelessly to achieve.
As Liverpool’s manager, Jürgen Klopp has been very vocal about his desire to build a team that is capable of sustained success and competing at the highest level. He has a clear vision for the club’s future, which centers around a few key principles.
First and foremost, Klopp wants Liverpool to play entertaining, attacking football that excites fans and puts opponents under constant pressure. This style of play is built on a foundation of intense pressing and high-energy movement both on and off the ball.
Secondly, Klopp is committed to building a strong team culture that values hard work, teamwork, and a never-say-die attitude. He wants his players to be fully committed to the club’s goals and to be willing to put in the effort needed to achieve them.
In terms of specific goals, Klopp has said that he wants Liverpool to win the Premier League and the Champions League. He has already achieved both of these feats during his time at the club, but his ultimate dream is to build a team that can sustain this success over a long period of time.
To achieve this, Klopp has emphasized the importance of building a deep squad with quality players in every position, and of developing young players through the club’s academy system. He has also stressed the need for the club to continue investing in state-of-the-art facilities and technology to give the team the best possible chance of success.
Overall, Klopp’s dream for Liverpool is to build a club that is not only successful on the pitch, but that is also respected and admired around the world for its style of play, its team culture, and its commitment to excellence in all areas.
Liverpool have been linked with a move for Barcelona defender Jules Kounde this summer, but the France international has insisted he will remain with the La Liga giants.
It had been claimed Liverpool had made a bid for Kounde, but the 24-year-old has dismissed rumours about his future. So that it remains clear…my future? I will stay at Barcelona, of course”, he told beIN Sports.
Barcelona coach Xavi also insisted Kounde remains central to his plans, telling Spanish outlet SPORT: “It is that there has been no case. It has been more a matter of the press. In fact, I had a conversation with Kounde a week ago with no problems.”
Kelleher expected to leave Liverpool
Republic of Ireland boss Stephen Kenny expects goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher to leave Liverpool this season in search of more regular first-team action.
“It looks like he will be on the move this summer and it can only benefit him because he needs to play games,” Kenny said. “He has been starved of games this year and it has been a problem for him.
“He is very, very talented and it is hard to leave Liverpool. It is such an iconic club but he’s not so young now. He’s 24 and he needs to play and he knows that.
“I would fully expect [Kelleher to leave]. It’s not right normally to speak about a player moving, but he’s at the stage where he’s behind probably one of the best goalkeepers in the world and it’s not going to get any easier.
“He can’t afford not playing. He knows that and he’s known that for a while. It’s not easy. There’s a process you go through with a club like that and it wouldn’t be a surprise for him to move in the summer and he knows that.
“I think he’s ready to go and play regularly because he needs to. The previous season, they’d been successful, winning the [League] Cup, winning the cup competitions, a lot of matches. They were knocked out early this year, not so much football for him and he needs it.”
Mount’s true feelings on Chelsea exit
Mason Mount looks increasingly like to leave Chelsea this summer with the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool interested in his services – but the midfielder wanted to stay at his boyhood club.
The 24-year-old England international has just one year remaining on his current contract and has been unable to come to an agreement over fresh terms with the Stamford Bridge hierarchy, who are now set to cash in on their homegrown star in order to raise funds.
A fresh report from The Evening Standard has revealed that United are now preparing to formally approach Chelsea over a deal for Mount. However, the report also outlines that Mount does not wish to leave the Blues but has not managed to secure a deal that would give him parity with several other significant members of the squad such as Reece James, who penned a fresh £250,000-a-week deal last year.
Liverpool midfielder Fabinho has revealed all about his decision to join the club from Monaco back in 2018.
Fabinho joined Liverpool for £39m and has helped them win the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup. Opening up about the move, the Brazilian wrote for The Players’ Tribune: “Liverpool weren’t the only club that made an offer that summer.
“There was another team in England I could’ve chosen. But it’s simple really: after you speak to Jurgen Klopp, you don’t want to hear anything from anyone else. It’s like, ‘OK, thank you, I’m coming to Liverpool!’
Liverpool dealt HAckney blow
Liverpool have been linked with a move for 20-year-old Middlesbrough midfielder Hayden Hackney, who enjoyed an impressive breakout season under Michael Carrick.
Hackney scored four goals and provided six assists as Middlesbrough reached the playoffs, with his performances reportedly attracting interest from the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and Newcastle.
However, the Northern Echo state that Middlesbrough have ‘no intention’ of selling the youngster who signed a new long-term deal in December, with Hackney viewed as a key part of Carrick’s plans for next season.

Liverpool complete repurchase of Melwood
Liverpool have confirmed the repurchase of the club’s former iconic training base Melwood with the women’s side set to take the keys.
The Reds completed the move to the £50m AXA Training centre at the end of 2020 with the existing base sold to affordable housing trust Torus. A lease was then agreed with Liverpool legends Robbie Fowler and Jamie Carragher as it was turned into a sporting and educational facility.
The ECHO now reports Liverpool have completed the repurchase for around £13m with plans to also use the site for the club’s foundation programmes, as well as for offering education to young people via the Fowler Education and Football Academy. Liverpool confirmed in a statement on Thursday they had been considering a number of alternative sites for their women’s team in recent years and that Melwood is the perfect fit.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has hailed the signing of midfielder Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton as “super news”.
Mac Allister has joined Liverpool for an initial £45m and Klopp has suggested the 24-year-old will feature in a variety of roles in midfield. “We are adding a very talented, very smart, very technically skilled boy to our squad and this is super news, really it is,” Klopp told Liverpool’s website.
“I do not think the football world needs me to say too much about Alexis’ qualities because they are already pretty well known but it is clear that he is someone who can play in a number of positions in the midfield and is an all-rounder, I would say. Jurgen Klopp has once agauin spoken out on the exit of Roberto Firmino and admitted he will “miss” the Brazilian.
Speaking on a documentary, the Liverpool boss said: “As a person, as a human, as a boy, I will miss him. As a player we all will miss him, but anyway I think it’s the right way to part ways: very respectful, with tears in our eyes and with the knowledge that we will definitely miss each other because it will be the other way around the same.”

Van de Ven’s Anfield dream
Reported Liverpool target Micky van de Ven has admitted he fell in love with Anfield on a visit to Merseyside.
The Wolfsburg defender has been linked with a move to Anfield this summer and is said to have caught the eye of new sporting director Jorg Schmadtke.
Speaking to AZ WAZ, he said: “I once went to the Liverpool stadium with my dad. That was over Christmas on Boxing Day. Liverpool vs Arsenal.
“That was madness. Then when ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ comes [on] – that’s a goosebump moment, that was very cool. It’s a dream to play there.”

Reds get major Kone boost
Liverpool’s hopes of signing Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Manu Kone have been bolstered after the son of Reds sporting director Jorg Schmadtke landed a job at the German side.
The Express reports that Nils Schmadtke is going to return to Gladbach, where he previously worked as a scout between April 2019 and May 2020, to strengthen their off-field structure this summer.
That should give Liverpool a useful link to the German side as they chase a deal for 22-year-old Frenchman Kone. It is thought he is available for £25-£30million this summer.

Liverpool’s approach to transfers explained
Liverpool will take a pragmatic approach in the summer transfer window, with Jurgen Klopp clear they cannot splash the cash like some of their rivals.
“We cannot have six players in the summer for £100m [each], for example. That’s clear,” he said in April, when asked about Jude Bellingham. “You have to realise what you can do and then you have to work with that. How much money do we have available? Then we work with that. That’s the job you have to do.
“We are not children. You ask a five-year-old what they want for Christmas and they tell you, ‘I want a Ferrari.’ You wouldn’t say ‘That’s a good idea’. You would say, ‘No, it’s too expensive and you cannot drive it.’ And that’s how it is. If this kid spends their whole life unhappy because he cannot get a Ferrari then that would be a really sad life.
“It’s just [about] what you can do. And then you do it and work with that. It was always how I’ve worked.
“What we need and what we want, we try absolutely everything to get it. But there are moments we have to accept this or that are not possible for us and step aside and do different stuff.”

Carvalho options
Fabio Carvalho struggled to make an impact with Liverpool this season and could leave the club – either on loan or permanently – over the summer.
“I think there is a possibility that maybe Fabio will go on loan or whatever,” Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said after the final game of the season. “We will see. The thing is, this was not Fabio’s best year of his career, clearly, in a very young career, but it might have been his most important.”
Mirror Football has taken a look at his options.

Ramsey endorses Thuram
Liverpool target Khephren Thuram has what it takes to “go all the way to the top”, according to his Nice team-mate Aaron Ramsey.
“Khephren is another talented player here,” Ramsey said in February.
“I think he’s definitely got a big future ahead of him if he carries on the way he’s going at the minute. He’s very dangerous, very powerful, a very strong dribbler of the ball.
“Hopefully, he can keep progressing. He’s another player that can go all the way to the top I feel. I enjoy playing alongside him in the middle of the park; I think we have a good balance in there. Now it’s just about adding a few more goals to our games.”

United to offer Maguire in Mount exchange
Manchester United will offer club captain Harry Maguire to Chelsea in a swap deal for Mason Mount as the Red Devils push for a transfer.
Mount is aware that Chelsea want to sell him this summer and he has expressed a preference for joining United in that instance.
However, the Blues are believed to value Mount’s transfer fee at closer to £70million and such a discrepancy in valuation could scupper any deal entirely. A report in the Sun suggests this is where Maguire comes into the equation.

Kelleher could leave
Jurgen Klopp could lose his trusted backup goalkeeper this summer, as pressure intensifies on Caoimhin Kelleher to leave Anfield.
The Irish shot-stopper, 24, has spent two seasons as Alisson Becker’s understudy, impressing on each occasion when Liverpool’s No.1 has been rested. But with Alisson still in his prime and feasting on considerably more minutes, Kelleher has been urged to depart in the summer transfer window amid links of a move to either Brighton or Brentford.
“Honestly, I can’t see Caoimh leaving,” the Reds boss told a press conference, having reportedly agreed to give third-choice goalkeeper Adrian a new one-year contract.
“It must be an extraordinary offer that I start thinking, I have to say. Adrian, if we don’t say goodbye [already] what would that mean? That he probably stays, but if there is nothing in the papers then it is not decided yet finally. We will not do it [say goodbye] just in case, but I have a rather good feeling that we [will] keep working together in that position.”

Thuram speaks out on transfer links
Liverpool transfer target Khephren Thuram has spoken out about a potential move to Anfield this summer, insisting he is “happy” at Nice.
Thuram featured in 35 Ligue 1 games, with his performances earning him an international debut with France and a spot in the Ligue 1 team of the season. Speaking at the UNFP awards, however, Thuram said he ‘hopes to grow’ with Nice and suggested he would not be on the move this summer.
“I want to progress, go on the field, have fun,” he said. “For now, I’m in Nice. It’s going very well. I really like the club, so I still see myself in Nice. I am very well in Nice.
“There are noises, I hear, but I’m happy in Nice. I hope to grow with this club. I would like him [manager Didier Digard] to stay because he brought a lot to this group when it was in a difficult period.”

Liverpool behind in Mount race
Despite strong interest from Arsenal and Liverpool, Mason Mount is edging closer to joining Manchester United in a blockbuster summer switch.
The 24-year-old Chelsea academy graduate is set to be sold by his boyhood club in the upcoming transfer window after months of talks over a new contract failed to come to fruition – much to the disappointment of Mauricio Pochettino, who was appointed as the Blues’ new head coach earlier this week.
Liverpool were initially touted as the frontrunner for Mount’s signature when speculation over his future ramped up last month, but the England star now appears to be on the cusp of a move to Old Trafford after ‘agreeing personal terms’ with the Reds’ Premier League rivals.

Defender shuts down Liverpool rumours

Firmino shares touching farewell speech
Liverpool star Roberto Firmino has shared footage of his farewell speech on social media, with the forward set to depart Anfield once his contract expires this summer.
In a speech delivered to his team-mates, Firmino said it was the “honour of my life” to play for Liverpool as his wife Larissa was left close to tears. “Eight years of Liverpool are coming to an end for my family and me in a few days,” Firmino said.
“Naturally, I already knew about Liverpool FC when I arrived here from Germany eight years ago. And yet, I had no idea… I had no idea how much passion that is in the club. And what a huge, huge part this club plays in the lives of so many people around the world.
“I didn’t know how positively crazy and how passionate the people who work at this club are, and how much this club and this stadium means to them. And the truth, the truth is I never could have dreamed that it was possible to achieve what we achieved together.
“It has been the honour of my life so far to have been a part of this Liverpool family. You’ll Never Walk Alone.”
Liverpool urged to sign Neves
Liverpool are looking to revamp their midfield this summer and have been urged to make a move for Wolves star Ruben Neves, who is out of contract next summer.
“He wants to play at a top club, and he’s said he wants to play in the Champions League,” former Premier League striker Gabriel Agbonlahor told Football Insider. “Liverpool aren’t in that competition, but they’re a big club, a big draw – and I’m sure they can attract top players like him.
“I just can’t see him staying at Wolves. If you’re a starter for Portugal, you should be at a better club than Wolves. That’s no disrespect, but he’s better than them. Liverpool need midfielders, but they can’t quite afford [Moises] Caicedo or [Declan] Rice. But Neves, you could get him for half the price of those two – I’m sure.”
