Denver Broncos: Which of team’s 3 quarterbacks is not ranked in the top 40?

The Denver Broncos don’t have an ideal situation at quarterback entering the 2024 season, no matter how anyone tries to spin it. The team is hoping to get competent play from at least one of their quarterbacks until Bo Nix is ready to go.

When it comes to ranking the team’s quarterbacks, there is not a lot of optimism out there. Trevor Sikkema of Pro Football Focus ranks the team’s quarterback room dead last in the league.

In his recent rankings, NBC analyst and former NFL quarterback Chris Simms wasn’t too much kinder. He put together a list of his top 40 QBs and one of the three quarterbacks currently on Denver’s roster doesn’t even make that list and one of them barely does.

Who is it?

Jarrett Stidham, who finished the 2023 season as the team’s starter after Sean Payton decided to bench Russell Wilson, comes in at No. 40. The highest Broncos quarterback on the list is the rookie Nix, who slides in at No. 29.

Instead, it is Zach Wilson, the former No. 2 overall pick who the Broncos acquired via trade this offseason, who some are saying has a chance to be the team’s Week 1 starter, who doesn’t even make Simms’ list.

Simms has obviously come off of Wilson a bit as he has always been a strong supporter of his.

And that’s fair. Broncos fans may want to give Wilson the benefit of the doubt now that he is wearing orange and blue, but what we saw out of him as the quarterback of the New York Jets was nothing short of horrible.

The Broncos will only go as far as their quarterback play takes them in 2024, making the goal of this season getting to the point that there is above-average play at that position, even if it’s not right away.

For those wondering, Russell Wilson appears at the No. 21 spot on Simms’ list as the new starting quarterback of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
