Premier League fans still have memories of the former England captain holding Kai’s arms for balance as the then toddler walked the ball into the net during United’s end of season celebrations. Fast forward to the present day, the now 14-year-old does not need anybody’s help, as he is smashing in the goals for fun with United’s youth teams.
After a long injury lay off, he contributed two goals and two assists in a 6-0 victory for the United youth team against Leeds United.
Rooney took to his 174,000 Instagram followers to tell them about his seismic display. The youngster said he helped himself to two goals and two assists in what was his first match in two months.
It’s not the first time his performances in the United youth teams have drawn comparisons with his legendary father. Last year, Kai claimed to have hammered home 56 goals and 28 assists in the 2021-22 season, including four goals against Liverpool and one in a 2-0 win over Manchester City in the under-13s National Cup North Final.
