What Rico Lewis said about mancitys performance of late
Rico Lewis is certain that City will return to winning ways in the Premier League and other competitions swiftly because of the caliber and experience in the locker room.
After three straight draws against Chelsea, Liverpool, and Tottenham, Wednesday night’s depressing 1-0 loss away at Aston Villa marked City’s fourth straight Premier League game without a victory.
That run of results was the first time City had gone four league games without a victory in seven years.
Pep Guardiola’s team dropped to fourth place in the Premier League standings as a result of the Villa loss, capping an extremely difficult and demanding schedule of games.
However, Lewis says just looking at the calibre and quality of his Etihad team-mates – alongside their depth of experience – tells him that City will quickly arrest the blip in results and get back to winning ways as attention turns to Sunday’s league trip to Luton Town.
“The players in that dressing room are world class and they know how to get out of these things,” Lewis asserted.
“They’ve been in tough periods before, tougher than this.
“They’ll know more than me how to get out of these situations.
As focus shifts to Sunday’s league trip to Luton Town, Lewis says that simply observing the caliber and quality of his teammates at Etihad—along with their breadth of experience—tells him that City will swiftly halt the dip in results and return to winning ways.
Lewis said, “The guys in that locker room are elite athletes and they know how to get through these situations.”
They have experienced more difficult times in the past.
“They’ll be more adept than I am at escaping these circumstances.
“We were deficient in every way. They exceeded our expectations. Bravo to them. While it does happen occasionally, losing in this manner is not common in games.
It’s something we need to address and investigate in the near future.
